Principal's Welcome
Redhawks,
We are incredibly excited to begin our twelfth year here at Westwood High School! This promises to be another year filled with limitless opportunities for all of our scholars and achievers as we strive to be the top producer of successful students in the nation. We embark on this journey with a promise to you, our scholars and parents, that this will be a year of engaging, meaningful and rigorous work in our classrooms, combined with special events, numerous extracurricular clubs, activities, performing arts groups, and athletic teams; to provide our Redhawks with a pathway to stay engaged and connected in order to achieve high-quality results!
During the 2023-24 school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of hard work, honored traditions, and continued excellence by anchoring our Habits of Success in everything we do. At WHS, we just don’t talk about how we would like students to interact and develop their social emotional learning, we actively teach it every day. Our culture and climate are based on the following four habits: Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Engagement.
Westwood High School is a school that has a strong heartbeat. We are a school of character solidified by many incredible graduating classes that have established a Tradition of Excellence. Redhawks respect one another, value each other, and care about people. As learners, we embrace diversity and work to have a safe, supportive, and encouraging school culture. As scholars, we also work together to learn, grow, and demonstrate premier citizenship.
Our staff of highly qualified professionals is committed to providing all scholars and achievers many opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom to maximize their potential. We invite and encourage scholars and parents to work in partnership with us to seize opportunities in all facets of our Westwood way of life --- Academics, The Arts, Athletics, and Activities.
We look forward to a very positive and productive year together! We extend a special, year-long invitation to our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. We want and value your involvement and support in your scholar’s education! Your active participation is key to the success of your scholar during his/her high school years.
Please know that we highly value home/school communication here at WHS. It is vital and plays an integral role in each scholar’s success. We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises, and to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other events and happenings.
